Foundation 2 Crew
A very warm welcome to the Foundation 2 page.
Our class teacher and Foundation 2 lead is Mrs Louise Gleave. Mrs Rachel Bastow is our HLTA.
Our learning coaches are: Mrs Kirstin Hocker, Mrs Sarah Lewis, Mrs Louise Spence, Mrs Emma Duggan and Mrs Iwona Dennis
At Woodchurch Road Academy our EYFS is a warm and friendly environment full of fun and laughter.
Our curriculum is based around stories from Steps to Read, Steps to Write, Drawing Club and the children’s interests. They are carefully chosen to reflect diversity, phonological awareness, variety and importantly for 4/5 year olds - humour.
We try to link in all areas of learning to help children to make relevant connections between the real world and their learning in school. We support the children to be resilient and brave in their learning challenges both indoors and outdoors.
Our PE day is Monday and children need to come to school wearing their kits. They stay in these all day. Please ensure children have suitable clothing for outdoor PE sessions as we head into the colder months. Children will access the outdoor learning environment each day so please ensure they are wearing weather appropriate clothes. As they explore sand, water and other types of outdoor experiences they are likely to get dirty. This is a sign that the children are comfortable getting involved and a sign that they are learning valuable skills and we apologise in advance for the increase in washing!
We recognise the positive impact of children’s home experiences and we work hard to build good relationships with our parents. We offer a range of parent workshops throughout the year to support home school learning. In January we will begin to use the Seesaw app to communicate with parents and allow them opportunities to access regular photos and notes about their child’s time in school.
Above all we want our children to love coming to school each day since this is when they will learn best and we work hard to make this happen.
